Jan Dobkowski was born on 8 June 1942 in Łomża, Poland. Between 1962 and 1968 he studied painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Jan Cybis.
Together with Jan Zieliński he co-founded the NEO-NEO-NEO Group (1965–1970). His signature style uses two complementary colours — red and green — to create the optical illusion of figures cut from their backgrounds, producing striking spatial compositions.
Dobkowski's works are held in the Guggenheim Museum New York and the National Museums in Warsaw, Wrocław, Poznań and Łódź. Kościuszko Foundation Fellow 1972. Norwid Prize 1978, Jan Cybis Prize 1994.
I buy directly from private owners — no auction, no gallery.
